Features ideal for training and exam assessments

Segmentation-based scoring

If you want to make it less obvious how questions are scored or if you want to evaluate specific themes in a way that’s less noticeable to the respondent, segmentations can assist you in achieving this. Segmentations allow you to connect questions or answers from anywhere in the assessment to form a network or theme. These can be referenced in your feedback report, either independently or alongside the hierarchical scoring.

Set benchmarks for achievement

You can set benchmarks in your assessment in three ways: the average of a cohort, a percentile value, or a predefined marker (known as a seeded benchmark). This is useful for reporting on group or individual results.

Benchmarks can also be defined based on ‘classifiers’ that group individuals by role, department, or demographic variables.

Time tracking and time limits

You can set a time limit to control how long a respondent has to answer a section. You can also specify the timer behavior if a respondent re-enters an assessment. This includes choosing whether a respondent can return to completed sections or move between sections in the same session.

As an administrator, you can check the remaining response time, adjust the remaining time, and view the duration spent in each section and session. Additionally, you can download this information as a spreadsheet for convenient viewing.

Question randomization

Randomization is available at the section or subsection level. When chosen, this option randomizes the order in which questions are presented. Question pooling is also available for subsections only. Simply specify the number of questions to be selected, and the system will randomly choose these from the available questions.

Assessor feedback

Assessments can be designed to allow assessors to provide direct feedback on responses. Results can also be built into the assessment to help the assessor give feedback within the context of individual or group results. The assessor’s feedback can then be appended to a final report for the subject or another team member.

Iterations

Create a before and after picture with iterations in your feedback reports. This is useful for measuring change and progress, the effectiveness of training, or how a group or cohort has improved or declined. There’s no limit to the number of iterations you can report, but feedback typically compares the first iteration with the most recent one or the last two or three iterations.

While exams or training assessments often focus on individuals, cohorts serve as a valuable tool for assessors. Cohorts group responses and generates reports, providing a top-down view of how a group of people performed in an assessment. This can be particularly useful for hiring managers in the case of applicant exams or for team managers when conducting skill-based tests.
